We are a small friendly Camera Club based on the Mornington Peninsula. Our aim is to provide an environment for new and experienced photographers to meet regularly improve their photography skills, present images for judging (if desired) and have a club to belong to where novices and seasoned photographers can meet and share their experiences and knowledge.
Our club has people from all ages and various skills. People who have only just picked up a camera, to members that have been into photography for many years.
We provide monthly tutorials (where practical) along with basic camera skills to novices.
The club meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 7:30pm at the Bentons Square Community Centre with outings four times a year on a Sunday.
A brief history of the club......
The Mornington Peninsula Camera Club had its beginnings in 1962, when a group of friends, all dedicated and keen photographers, began meeting on a regular basis to share their work. After a short period in that year, it was decided to form a Camera Club. A meeting was held, a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer were elected, and a name chosen for the new Club
The Club grew in strength and numbers; it had become affiliated with the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies (VAPS) by 1966, and became an officially Incorporated Body under the umbrella of the Department of Justice.
By the end of the 1960’s, the Club had become a well-known and well-established organisation and was known throughout the Camera Club Movement in Victoria for the quality of its work and successes in various Interclub competitions.
The club continued to grow over the years and eventually moved from Red Hill to Mornington.
The Mornington Peninsula Camera Club has come a very long way since it’s small, humble beginnings in 1962, when it met in a private home in Red Hill to where it is now. A vibrant, healthy Club that meets regularly and and has a variety of members willing to help grow the people and the club.
